This page explains what the Transparent AI website and our InsightAI app collect, why, where it goes, and how to reach us.
Who we are
Transparent AI, Inc. is a US company. We're responsible for the information this page says we collect: the early-access list, your account and license records, and our hosting and security logs. Contact us at info@transparentai.tech.
We don't receive the data you analyze in InsightAI. When the app sends your questions and analysis results to Anthropic under your own API key, Anthropic handles that under your agreement with them.
This website
- No tracking. We don't add analytics scripts, advertising or tracking cookies to this site. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself, so just visiting it doesn't contact any company other than our host.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes the technical data needed to deliver a web page (such as your IP address and browser type) and keeps it in logs under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor isn't an automated bot, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie; we don't use it to track you.
- The early-access list. If you join, your browser sends the email address you enter directly to Google, which, like any site you contact, also sees your IP address and browser type. Google stores your address, with the date, in a Google Sheet only we can access. We use it only to contact you about access to InsightAI. If we invite you, we give your email address to WorkOS, which sends the invitation and runs sign-in. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.
- If you email us. We keep your message and our reply in our email service to answer you, and delete them when they're no longer needed.
The InsightAI app
InsightAI analyzes your files on your own computer. Your files are not sent to us. Three kinds of information do leave your computer:
- To Anthropic, for the AI reasoning. Your questions; the names of the files you load (and of the sheets, for a workbook with several); column names, row counts, statistics and calculation results from the analysis; and, if you click for the AI summary of the audit report, that report. Some results include individual values from your files: for example a maximum or minimum, the category labels in a column the analysis looks at (such as product lines, suppliers or regions) and how many rows carry each, a handful of flagged outliers, or the period-by-period values behind a trend or a forecast. If a column holds people's names, those labels can be included, and if your data has one row per day or month, the values behind a trend or forecast are your data. The app holds back values from columns that look like identifiers (IDs or codes that are different on almost every row, or columns named like an ID or code) and long free text. Short codes that repeat across many rows, such as a worker, crew or store code, are treated like any other category label and can be included. If your files contain personal data you don't want sent, remove those columns before analyzing them. All of this goes to Anthropic's Claude using your own Anthropic API key. Every calculation result the AI received is recorded in the audit, which you can view and download in the app while that analysis is open. It isn't kept after you close the app or sign out, so download it if you need a record.
- To WorkOS, for sign-in. WorkOS is our sign-in provider. It sends your invitation email, and you sign in in your web browser on a page WorkOS runs. WorkOS processes your email address, your name if you give one, the sign-in details you use there, and the technical data your browser sends (such as your IP address). WorkOS's pages may set their own cookies. Your sign-in tokens pass from WorkOS through our license service to the app; our service doesn't store them. If you accept an invitation in your browser, our license service sets one security cookie that expires after 10 minutes and is used only to finish that sign-in.
- To our license service, to check your access. While the app is open, it checks about once a minute that your account is active. Each check sends your sign-in token, a random ID for your installation, and your operating system. Our license service stores your email address, your WorkOS user ID and your account status (and when it changed), and for each installation its ID, operating system, and when it first and last checked in. It also keeps a log of each installation's access: an entry whenever its status changes, and about one an hour while the app is open. The service is hosted by Railway, which, like any web host, processes the IP address each check comes from; our service does not store IP addresses. It never receives your files, your questions or any analysis results.
Your Anthropic API key, and the token that keeps you signed in, are stored in Windows Credential Manager under your Windows user account. (On a managed network with roaming profiles, Windows may sync that store to your other work computers.) The API key is sent only to Anthropic, never to us. The app keeps its own logs on your computer; they aren't sent to us.
Why we use it
- The early-access list: because you asked to join it. You can withdraw at any time.
- Your account and license checks: to provide the app you signed up for.
- Hosting and security logs: to keep the site and service running and secure.
Where it's processed
We're a US company. Our providers (Cloudflare, Google, WorkOS, Railway and our email provider) may process your information in the United States and in other countries where they operate.
How long we keep things
We keep early-access emails until you ask us to remove them or until we no longer need them to contact you about access. We keep account and license records while your account exists. In the access log, the hourly entries are deleted once they're 90 days old, and the entries recording a change in an installation's access are kept while your account exists. When you ask us to close your account, we delete your account and license records, including that log, and your sign-in account at WorkOS, except where we have to keep something to meet a legal obligation. The record of the invitation we sent you (your email address, and when it was sent and accepted) stays in our WorkOS account, and WorkOS may keep its own records under its own privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
Joining the early-access list is optional. An email address is required to create an account and sign in.
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you (including in a portable format), ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw from the early-access list, by emailing info@transparentai.tech. If you're in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict our use of your information and to complain to your local data protection authority.
InsightAI is for business use and isn't meant for children.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
